Welcome to Kelebek Sailing Adventures

Welcome!

I've created this page to give any potential crew members a little more insight to my 'Round the World' sailing adventure.

Below you will find more about my yacht 'Kelebek' with photos, videos and technical data. You will also see some more information about myself and my experience.

Above you have a link to my google calendar.

The calendar shows my proposed itinerary with dates, starting and finishing country and port. This will be work in progress as I make future plans. I also welcome any recommendations to alternate destination if crew are keen to explore other countries.

I have divided the passages/cruises into roughly 2 week trips, some of course such as ocean passages will be longer. However these are very flexible and open for discussion/changes if necessary for crew needs/flights etc.. I am also happy for crew to join for 2 weeks or as long as they wish!

I've sailed for 25years now, so although I love sailing and am happy to teach and pass on my knowledge, I still want to explore the countries/ ports and anchorages and plan to make enough time to explore ashore.

The cruises are on a shared cost basis i.e. food, moorings, marinas, fuel and of course crew would need to pay for their own flights and travel. I will cover all on going maintenance costs. Alternatively I can ask for a daily charge of £20.00 and cover everything. Once out of Europe we will be mostly anchoring (nothing like a pre-breakfast swim) and sailing as much as possible so cost should be at a minimum.

About myself and SY Kelebek

About me

I am the owner and skipper of SY Kelebek which I've owned for 4 years. I've been sailing for about 25 years with 20 years as a professional working with Rubicon 3, Tall Ships Youth Trust and many Solent based sailing schools. I have my Yacht Master Instructor, Yacht Master Ocean along with various other qualification (radio, 1st aid etc) required to be a professional ocean sailor.  I have sailed approximately 200K nm including 10 Atlantics and 1 Pacific crossing. Other sailing areas include the Med, Caribbean, UK, N Europe, Norway, Svalbard and some of the Pacific and I plan to see a lot more on this 4 year passage!

SY Kelebek

SY Kelebek is a 1986 Moody Grenadier 134. She is 44ft long, draws 2.1m with a 4m beam. The older design gives her a lot of internal space, with a large saloon that could easily seat 8, forward there's a double V berth, twin bunk room and a forward heads. There is a small walk in workshop/engine room, and a good size longitudinal galley. Aft is my cabin with my own heads. Being an older yacht she is sturdily built and over engineered in many way.

I have spent lots updated her including new sails, standing rigging, replacement skin fittings, new instruments and radar, Hydrovane self steering, new bimini and full enclosure, 25litre watermaker, fridge, freezer, windlass, heads, heater, spade anchor, Inverter. She also has a fairly new generator which was already installed. Please take a look at the photos and video link below.
